John 19:25-34

The scene is both heartbreaking and tender. The Mother and the beloved disciple keep vigil to the end. The two are together in that moment and will remain so by Jesus’ instruction. In that moment the Church is born, and Mary becomes her mother.

Dearest Mother, we pray for your Church. Raise up and inspire wise and caring leaders. Open the minds and hearts of the people to the beauty, truth and promise of God’s holy Church.
