Matthew 20:20-28

The mother of James and John speaks to Jesus on their behalf. She wants to secure their status in the kingdom. She certainly lacks, as do her sons, a clear understanding of discipleship. The conversation raises the ire of the other disciples. Jesus uses the moment to expound on suffering and service, part and parcel of following him.

Help me to see how to best serve those I encounter in my day to day life and to do so selflessly.
