Matthew 17:22-27

The disciples are “overwhelmed with grief” by Jesus’ second prediction indicating a new level of understanding on their part. And in the meantime, they travel to Capernaum where Peter is questioned about Jesus’ payment of the temple tax. Though Jesus is not obliged to do so, he pays the tax out of respect and to avoid additional conflict with authorities.

We pray for leaders throughout the world. Inspire them to lead selflessly, to serve humbly and to respect life from conception to natural death.
